Sixty two and counting

Image
22630 days on this earth as of today. That’s a lot of days.  Some days, it feels like I can’t be 62 yet. A few days it feels like 82. I am grateful and blessed for my family, friends, health, that I’m able to continue to work at a job I have loved so long.  I was very busy at work yesterday.  Those peeps slipped around and got an ice cream cake and surprised me.  They hid it well!  It’s 67° and very overcast this morning.  The air feels like rain. Landon Hampton says spotty showers off and on all day. I’m enjoying all the birds singing this morning. Later today, I get to see my baby brother. Haven’t seen him since our dad passed.   Remember all the sick in your prayers.  It’s been a sad week at work.  I love all y’all ❤️ Have a blessed day!

It’s good to be home this morning! It’s been a busy weekend at work!  It’s 60° on the porch currently and not muggy but the air is moist and still; and I think it’s gonna be a hot one! There is heavy dew on the grass.  I can hear lots of birds this morning; and what a difference 3 days has made in my trees. The catalpa tree leaves are huge! I don’t see worms yet though. 🐛  The walnut trees have really filled out too. My field looks like Chris has been working getting it ready for beans.  The hostas right in front of the house are thriving too.  I washed and filled my hummingbird feeders earlier today. Currently waiting for a visit. They’ve been here about 6 weeks already and I’ve only seen 3. I’ve heard a couple this morning though so maybe I’ll get a visit shortly.  I sat outside about 20 minutes last night just around dusk hoping to hear that first whippoorwill of the season. Didn’t have any luck though. I’m going to see what I can get into today. There’s much to be done! Please rem

Last day home this week

Today ends a week off work. I’m kinda sad about it actually.  It reminds me how much I’d love to retire and be home all the time.  That’s just not happening yet though.  It’s a beautiful, warm, sunny 62° on the porch this morning. Multiple birds are singing. Roosters are crowing. Chickens, ducks and turkeys are all hollering too. There’s quite a bit of road noise in the distance as well. Lots of folks out early.  My coffee cup is almost ready for a refill.  There’s just something about that sweet, sweet nectar that my Keurig brews fresh for me every time.  Some folks are one and done. Not me.  At least not if I’m home. Coffee is my best friend.   I thought those cicadas were supposed to be here a few days ago. I haven’t seen or heard any yet. I may regret that statement. Sometimes their noise is nearly deafening. Have y’all seen or heard them yet? Enough rambling for today  please remember all those who always need prayers   I love all y’all  ❤️ Have a blessed day!

Mid week musings

It’s 70° right now with a gentle breeze. It’s overcast with a slight chance of a shower. It’s supposed to be hot in a few days. Just like KY. Winter to summer in a few days time.   Don’t you hate it when you write a lot then delete it....🤭 Not a lot to say today!  Please remember to pray for those who need prayers! Remember our revival in your prayers please! I love all y’all!❤️ Have a blessed day!

Yuk

It’s a cloudy, breezy 64° on the porch this morning. The birds are singing beautifully again this morning. I hear roosters proclaiming morning.  Those clouds are too thick right now for a peak at the sun.  Yesterday afternoon I was sitting on the porch not really feeling the best when I heard a male voice screaming very angrily.  If you know where I live, you know there’s no one close enough to hear. Chris and Megan have lived across the field about 13 years. Rarely, I hear kids outside playing but I’ve never, ever heard anything like that from there, besides it was the wrong direction. We have new neighbors to the right, but that was the wrong direction   I got in the car and drove out and saw 2 people walking on 1749. It was a blond guy and young woman. He was in her face screaming at her. That was what I heard. He wasn’t hitting her but he was in her face screaming. I stopped my car and asked if she was ok. She said yes. He was still screaming. I did tell him if I saw him hit her I

It’s May17. In about six weeks, 2021 will be half over. Time just seems to be passing so fast. The older I get, the faster it seems to go.  It’s 57° on the porch this morning. Birds are everywhere! I hear chickens and roosters here and in the distance, too. I hear the hum of a motor running nearby as well. So far, I don’t hear a lot of road noise in the distance. The sun is rising. There are enough clouds to filter the brightness.  Hank is asleep, he hasn’t a care! He’s a good pup. He just likes to run.  My heart is heavy this morning. Uneasy. I pray nothing bad happens. I am not a fan of the uneasy feeling.  Nicks garden is well tended. His dad would be so proud!  Remember all those in need of prayers! I love all y’all!❤️ Have a blessed day!

Sunday morning

It’s overcast from my view and a chilly 58°. Not quite as many singers in the bird chorus this morning. I hear the chickens clucking pretty loud though. I had to walk down there to make sure nothing was getting them.  As I’m writing, a gentle rain has started.  God knows just what we need. He always provides.  His blessings are everywhere if we but look.   It’s time to settle down and get my mind on more important things.  Please remember to pray for those who need prayers!  I love all y’all! ❤️ Have a blessed day!

Quiet time

I love my quite time on the porch. This morning, the sun is so bright, I moved to the side. Trying to keep centered on what’s important.  It’s not easy. My mind gets so clogged up with things going on - things that aren’t really important.  Revival started last night at my church. We will meet daily at 11am and nightly at 7. If you want directions, message me.  It’s beautiful on the porch. It’s 61° but feels so much warmer. The birds are singing and looking for breakfast. It’s mostly sunny. There are a few high thin clouds. I see 2 jets (I can only hear 1) way high in the air. Their contrails are beautiful!  The trees and grass are so green! While I was writing, 2 more jets went over. Their contrails are fading but formed an imperfect checker board.  Keep centered on what’s important!  Pray.  Pray for me & my family. Nothing going on, just asking for prayers.  Pray for your neighbors, friends, family.  Pray for your community, county, state and nation.  Pray our leaders follow prin

Mid May Already

I can’t believe it is mid May already! I also can’t believe that in 2 weeks I will be 62 years old. “They” say - whomever “they” are - you’re only as old as you feel.... hmmm.  I walked around this morning looking at what’s blooming to my left while I’m on the porch. It’s dang multifloral rose. A weed. An aggressive invasive weed. Boo. I did also find baby blackberries. I guess that means that cold spell recently was blackberry winter. I couldn’t see them bloom because the view is blocked by trees. I also found a few of Xaviers “gaaappppeeeessss!”He’s so excited to pick his  “gaaapppeeees” the little stinker.  He’s so cute.  Birds are singing. Robins are looking for something to eat, hummingbirds are giving me a show. There’s a gentle breeze playing my wind chimes too.  The sky is so beautifully blue! No clouds!  Miller Hill starts revival tonight at 7. Brother Todd Cassady is helping. Come if you can! Message if you need directions. Day service starts tomorrow at 11, and nightly at 7.

Peaceful

It’s 53° on the porch currently. It’s warmed about 10° since I got up. Currently, I’m on my third cup of that sweet nectar from God. It keeps me sane.  There are birds singing all around. I can pick out cardinal, bluebird, robin, finch and chickadee song. My hummingbirds are giving me a show too! I can also hear our chickens. There’s quite a bit of road noise in the distance as well. There’s a gentle breeze also, causing my wind chimes to play beautifully for me.  This past Sunday was Mother’s Day. I had to work. It was quite a difficult day! Oh, retirement! Where fore art thou?! (Still a few years away!) it’s getting closer! I got a much better gift this year! Last year, it was COVID. This year, a new dishwasher! Nick finished the install last night! We are already using it! Hopefully the water bill goes way down. I’m a runner while washing dishes. I try to remember to turn it off but it’s so much easier to leave it running!  I love living in the country! It’s so peaceful back here!

Springtime in Southern KY

It’s May 10 I believe. It’s almost 6am and 46°. Brr. It’s overcast and a little breezy. There’s a chorus of birds singing all around. I hear road noise in the distance, in front and in the holler behind me. We’ve had so much rain. The garden needs tilling but it’s so muddy.  Hopefully it can dry out before it gets overrun with grass.  I hope all you moms had a great Mother’s Day! I worked. I did get a new dishwasher for Mother’s Day. My old one had been leaking and we hadn’t used it for well over a year, maybe 2. Nice present!  I hope y’all have a blessed day! I love all y’all! ❤️

A cool morning

It’s 8:45 in the morning. It’s 53°, up about 10° so far from when I woke this morning.  This is just a trial run of a possible new blog. I do love sitting on the porch and describing what I see and hear. Today I’m too much of a wus to sit outside. If it was just a bit warmer.....  I know this is a “winter” but since I don’t see blackberries or locust blooming and it’s too early for linen britches winter, I’m unsure which one.  Several folks let me know their blackberries are blooming, mine are not. Yet.  Time will tell I guess.  I ask if you’re reading this, remember my friend Gina and her family as they say good bye to her brother. She’s said goodbye to her mom, her sister, a niece and now a brother.  Please pray for comfort and peace for them all. I have not lost a sibling, I don’t know how that feels.  I’m sure it leaves a big hole in your heart.   This is my last day home this week.  I work the next three.  Not looking forward to three consecutive days.   I love all y’all! ❤️ Have
