It’s hot! 🥵

Image
At 0737 hrs, it’s 77° outside! I am not on my porch! The sun is so very bright and hot out there! I’m at my dining room table having a bite of breakfast. I have my fiesta flamingo plate 🦩 and my Rae Dunn Nurse mug 🩺💉💊 I wish Rick could taste these taters! Back in the 80s we lived in Marlborough MA. There was this mom and pop restaurant in that town. It was called Lincoln Lunch. They had the best breakfast potatoes! I was never able to duplicate them. Today, I’m close!  I’ve already washed and filled my hummingbird feeders yet again! I’ve unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. I’m reseasoning an iron skillet. My cornbread last night was a crumbled mess. It stuck! Not sure what happened to my bread skillet. I’ll fix it though!  Y’all remember to pray!  I love all y’all!❤️ Have a blessed day!  1 Thessalonians 5:18 King James Bible In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

June 25! Six months til Christmas!

It’s 73° on the porch this morning. It’s warm, muggy and breezy. It’s also overcast at present but I think that’s getting better. It’s a beautiful morning. Birds are singing.  Hummingbirds are feeding in freshly filled feeders. There’s a beautiful hawk soaring too.  How can 2021 be almost half over already?! We’ve had the summer solstice already and the days are already beginning to shorten by 30 seconds here, 30 seconds there…. And summer just started!  I’m excited though for fall.  It’s my favorite time of the year.  I love the fall colors. I love my fodder shock that gets put up every year. It gets decorated with straw bales, mums, and a scarecrow or two. Last year, it got decorated with the beast just for a fall pic. The sunflowers are blooming and beautiful. I have black eye Susan’s that came up on their own.  There are some wild daisies, they’re tiny.  And something I’ve thought was “chigger flowers” or queen Annes Lace all these years was identified as wild carrot…. I must inves

After the rain

Image
Yesterday we had rain. It was much needed.  It rained so hard, visibility was low.  It was also dark enough our dusk to dawn light came on.  There was some thunder and lightning with it.  I’m thankful for the rain, and for no severe weather with it!  I’m also thankful for the nicer weather today! It’s been mid-summer like for a while now. Summer officially arrived just before midnight Sunday night.  Yesterday was the first full day summer!  It’s 61° on the porch right now.  I’m on the side because of the angle of the sun.  It’s mostly clear with a few high whispy clouds.  It’s a beautiful day!  My hydrangea is blooming.  I can’t share a whole photo of it though.  I’m ashamed. It needs weeding.   🤷🏻‍♀️ it was given to us when Rick died.  I set it out, it took a couple years but finally bloomed and hasn’t failed to bloom since.   Friday night I heard my first whippoorwill of the season. He was back Saturday night.  I was so worn out from the weekend, I didn’t listen Sunday night or las

Another beautiful day!

It’s 60° on the porch this morning. The sun is up and bright. It’s just a few days to the summer solstice and the most hours of sunlight in the year.  It’ll stay that way a day or two…. You know you can still see a hint of light in the evening until around 8:30 pm.  Shortly after the solstice, though we will still have plenty on sunlight early and late, sunrise will start being a tiny bit later every day and sunset a little early every day until the winter solstice and the fewest hours of sunlight.  At that point, it starts over again.  When I was a kid, so long ago, summer seemed to last forever.  Now, blink and the next season is here! I love these beautiful mornings! The birds are beautiful this morning.  And, I still haven’t heard that night bird! Maybe tonight! Please remember those who are in need of prayers!  I love all y’all!❤️ Have a blessed day!

Oh! What a beautiful morning!

If you haven’t seen the sunrise this morning, I’d suggest you hurry! It’s gorgeous! It’s a beautiful 59° on the porch this morning.  I’ve already had almost a whole cup of coffee. I’ve washed and filled 2 hummingbird feeders. It’s just 6am.  You know, Gods beauty is all around us if we just take the time to take it all in.  This glorious sunrise, the birds singing, the cool crisp morning…. It’s a piece of heaven right here!  I hope you all get out and enjoy this beautiful day! Remember to pray for those who are in need! I love all y’all! ❤️  Have a blessed day!

Sunday morning again

It’s 71° on the porch currently. It’s 0640 (am). The air is thick this morning. There’s just enough clouds around the horizon to mute the sun.  Lots of crows cawing. They’re a little annoying. The roosters have been crowing here and at the neighbors.  I can hear at least 3-4 different areas.  I can hear cardinals, doves, Bob whites, and a low cicada hum.  Pretty sure I heard coyotes when I first came outside.  The hummingbirds are feeding frequently as well.  I’ve actually seen six at once.  If you haven’t seen yours much, hang on. Keep your feeders fresh! And, remember, just because you haven’t seen them doesn’t mean they’re not around.  My nectar disappeared for a few days before I actually caught a glimpse.   Y’all. Please remember an old work friend from Baptist. He worked PASR there.  Got patients in SICU from him often. His great grand baby passed away.  Such a sad, heartbreaking time for that family.  Please whisper a prayer for peace and comfort for them.   Please remember thos

Beautiful sunrise

The sunrise is beautiful this morning.  We had a late evening thunderstorm last night.  It got a little rough, national weather service called for a severe thunderstorm warning for us.  I don’t see any damage though! It’s 68° on the porch already. Birds are doing their thing.  I finally hear a few cicadas doing their thing. I feel like it’s about normal though.  Nicks garden is looking great! The sunflowers are really growing! I had to fill hummingbird feeders again last night.  They’re really going through it! I have 2 feeding at the same time! That’s not gonna last long!  Y’all remember to pray for those in need.  I love all y’all. ❤️ Have a blessed day!

A muggy morning

Image
It’s 72° on the porch this morning. The air feels heavy. Lots of high clouds filtering the sun, so I’m thinking it actually could be hotter.  There’s not enough breezy to play the wind chimes.  Hummingbirds are feeding often this morning. For certain, I’ve had 2 males and a female fighting over one hole on a feeder.  There are seven other holes to feed from.  If I had ten feeders, it’d be the same.  When I was younger, I had six or seven feeders split between front back and sides. I just have two so far this year.   I feel like this summer is going to be a hot one. It was cooler for so long.  I hate heat.   I called Moon over to take her picture. She won’t look at me.  She’s getting old.  Seems like we just got her.  She’s around seven or eight.  Her snout is getting gray.   Remember to pray for those who are in need!  I don’t have much today.   I love all y’all. ❤️ Have a blessed day! Stay cool!

Summertime

Image
In 2021, the June solstice happens on  Sunday, June 20, at 10:32  P.M. CDT.  That’s when summer really begins. The first full day of summer will be June 21. There will be more hours of daylight that day (June 20) than any other day of the year.  Shortly after, daylight will decrease by a minute here and there until the winter solstice in December, when we will have the fewest hours of daylight- and those hours will begin lengthening again. It’s been a bit humid today.  Not a fan.  Currently it’s 82° on my porch.   By the way, I got the cutest summer decorative towel today. I’ll show you soon.  Check back tomorrow for pics.  I worked the last 3 days. People are so sick.  It’s sad.  We are still seeing very detrimental effects of COVID on those it chooses to hurt.  I still don’t understand why some die, some get sniffles, and some don’t know they’re sick.  Thankfully, active COVID cases are way down.  Oh, that owl Bruce rescued passed away.  He tried.  Y’all remember my cousin and her fa

It’s June!

I can’t believe we just started the sixth month of the year.  Time is flying.  It’s 65° on the porch this morning. The air feels heavy - like rain; but there’s a nice, slight breeze. It’s not enough to play my wind chimes.  The clouds are low and thick.  Weather app is calling for rain part of the day.   Birds are singing all around. I hear our roosters proclaiming morning. I also hear the neighbors rooster. What I have yet to hear this year is a whippoorwill. Usually I’ve heard at least one by now. I’ve heard a couple of chuck wills widows this spring, close but no whippoorwill.  Soon maybe. I’ve seen a few lightening bugs.  And, knock on wood, we haven’t really had many severe storms this spring.  Currently, it’s 5:11 am.  I’ve been awake for over an hour on my day off. Woke early yesterday too, I guess I’m just used to it.  Work was very busy Tuesday- I picked up an extra shift.   I wish you could have seen Xavier yesterday afternoon.  A tree fell over the driveway. Nick had to cut
