Late August morning

Image
It’s 75° on the porch with a bright, sunny sky.  This week has been a little eventful for me. Monday, I had an upper endoscopy looking for a cause for this almost constant pain. It was good except for a small nodule he found. It was biopsied and sent for exam.  It was  reactive gastropathy which indicates my long term nsaid use caused.  It’s not gastritis.  It’s not likely the cause of my pain either.  So.  I don’t know what is next. I’ve been living with this pain for 2-3 years now. It’s just getting more frequent (pretty much constant) so if you see me having to stop, be patient.  I’ll move in a minute.   When you pray; Please remember those who are sick.  Please remember those who’ve lost loved ones. Please remember our land.  King James Bible 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Another Saturday almost over

It’s a muggy 75° on the porch. There’s a much needed light rain falling, a gentle breeze and lots of thunder! I’ve had a busy day today. I went to town to run my errands, then came back  home briefly then up to the fire department to celebrate friends who are like family fifty year wedding anniversary. Seems like a few weeks ago we celebrated their 40th anniversary with a surprise party. A lot has changed in ten years.  Made new hummingbird food today. Those little things are mean! I wonder how much sugar I’ve gone through feeding them this summer.   This COVID thing has me all torn up. I’m scared to get it again. I’ve had the shots and I’ve had COVID. If I got it again, would it be worse on me? Would I be the odd one out that it kills after having the shots? I’m afraid it’s here to stay.  I’m afraid it’s inevitable to get it again. And again.   Pray for our county. Pray for your family and neighbors. Pray for our nation to return to the old paths, to beg God’s forgiveness and that He’

Happy Sunday!

It’s 83° on the porch at nearly 8pm. The cicadas are so loud! I can hear cars in the distance. Bubby has gone up to his room for the night. He’s talking way more. Most of it I can gleen his meaning. Some of it though, nope. It’ll just be him and me for a while tomorrow. His momma is working part time and they asked her to work nights this weekend. I’m too old for nights. It messes me up bad.  Well. I have had a slight issue with my heart. I’m (not so) patiently waiting for my holter monitor to be read. I’ve been having palpitations and “skips” and “fluttering” feelings. A couple times it made me light headed. My blood tests all came out great. Just getting that holter back now is the big thing. My watch is able to look at my heart rate and it does it often. It can also catch a tracing of what I’m feeling if I prompt it to in time. About 2 weeks ago, it caught a pause. That prompted the holter. While wearing the holter I had a dizzy spell and caught irregular heart beats on the ekg. I f

Simply beautiful!

The sunrise this morning is framed with puffy blue clouds. There are sun rays reflecting off the white clouds. There’s light haze in the distance.  My hummingbirds are playing about. Birds are singing from all directions. Roosters are crowing here, and in the distance. In the gully beside my house, there are still night critters making their noises as well.  There’s some road noise and a few doggies are guarding their territory.  The garden is slowing down. The hickory cane corn is 7-9 feet tall in places now. The main reason Nick planted it was he knows my love for fodder shocks for fall decorations. Rick always fixed me one that took 3 of us to tie up.   I’m about to get ready to go in to work for a meeting this morning. Our interim CNO personally invited me, so how can I refuse?!  This is a scary, scary time for us in healthcare. This is not a debate. It’s a fact. We didn’t cause it, but we have to fight it.  Hmmm. I hear a resemblance to a Billy Joel song…. 🎶 we didn’t start the f

Sixty four degrees!

It’s 64° on the porch this morning! The air is crisp. There’s haze in the distance but no real fog.  Speaking of fog, have you heard the foggy mornings in August thing? Old wives tale: count the foggy mornings in August and that’s how many times you’ll see snow in the coming winter. It’s day 2 and no fog! Now, if it’ll stay that way…. By the way, it doesn’t say accumulating snow…. So those days with flurries do count!  It’s a beautiful morning.  Birds are singing. There are some night critters still doing their thing. The hummingbirds are buzzing around. I hear someone’s dogs. Sounds like they’re having a blast. There’s quite a bit of road noise this morning too. Not only from 1749 out there, but from behind me. Some days I can hear vehicles from Penns Chappel area behind me. Some days I can hear the train as it goes through at Oakland.  This cool morning has me wishing for fall! We still have plenty of hot, humid days ahead though! I’m not rushing the seasons. I just love fall!! 🧡🍁

August begins….

Heat. Humidity. Dog days of summer. Hottest days. We have a little over 2 more weeks of “dog days”.  Then I will be counting down to fall! We have an abundance of hickory cane corn that is so tall! I can’t wait for fall with crisp mornings and evenings and my fodder shock and straw bales and pumpkins and scare crows…. Ah, fall! My favorite time of year!!  This morning, it’s 70° on my porch. There are clouds. And haze. And a nice breeze. “And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily  Oh joyfully, playfully watching me”* I’m not paranoid. I just love *”The Logical Song” by Supertramp. If you don’t know it, and you’re a fan of late 70s to early 80s music, YouTube supertramp music. You might be surprised.   My hummingbirds are buzzing around. They love my rose bush at the corner of my porch. It’s thriving, though the Japanese Beatles tried to kill it.  I need more coffee. And maybe biscuits.  Yes, everyone needs homemade biscuits.   Please remember to pray for our
