Thoughts and a heavy heart

My heart is heavy this morning. It’s heavy for multiple reasons. It’s heavy because a man speaking in front of dozens of people was shot and murdered - no assassinated - in front of multiple people. It was caught on video.
My heart is heavy because people are cheering about this.
Really?!
How on earth can ANYONE be cheering about this. This man is younger than my son. This man had a wife and two small children. He was talking one second, the next he was gone. How on Gods green earth is this even remotely ok?!
My heart is heavy because of shootings in Denver yesterday. My heart is heavy because at least one is dead from that. People are saying it’s the guns fault. Really?  How?
My heart is heavy because of all the senseless violence going on in our nation that keeps getting worse.
My heart is heavy because 24 years ago today, two planes were intentionally flown into the twin towers in NYC. Another plane was flown into the pentagon. And still, a fourth plane had a target. That plane was overtaken by passengers who didn’t let it hit the target. Still, dozens of innocent lives were lost there too.
My heart is heavy because last night I was told everyone had a good heart. How? These acts were performed by people with Depraved hearts with malice, forethought, intent and planning, knowing if successful, PEOPLE would die. How can these people be good people?!
I’m tired of hearing guns are the problem. How? A gun is an inanimate object. It has no capacity to fire on its own. A human must make intentional moves to make it fire. There’s no other way. No exception.
I said what I said.
EVEN when the gun is picked up by a child and fired, EVEN if that child hurts or kills itself or another, the ADULT responsible for the gun left it accessible to that child and is responsible. Doesn’t matter if they didn’t mean to, they did. And then, the unthinkable happened.
Don’t be preaching guns are bad to me. I’m 66 years 3 months old and I have been around guns my entire life. Guns are not the problem. As I said earlier, a depraved heart with malice and intent is the problem.
My heart is heavy because I was asked to explain why these things happen and why can’t we just let people grieve in their own way, leaving God out of it.
Leaving God out of it and this nation, as a whole, turning away, shunning, even denying God is part of the problem. We can keep praying and begging God to protect us. Until people change their hearts, these things will keep happening.
Pray.
Pray for Mr Kirk’s family and friends.
Pray the killer and accomplices are caught.
Pray for that community where this horrific tragedy happened.
Pray for the other victims of senseless violence.
Pray for our nation. Pray that we can get our hearts in the right place.
I am praying daily.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land"
2 Chronicles 7:14
