On The Porch

It is august 2nd. It’s a beautiful 66° on the porch this morning. There’s a gentle breeze with a hint of cooler weather! I can actually breathe out here! It’s mostly sunny. I hear the young rooster in the coup. He’s trying his best to crow. It’s so cute. I had initially planned on being out here before sunup but 1am hives and Benadryl had other plans for me. I still made it out here though. This is my time. Slightly crisp mornings, my front porch, silence except the critters and a little road noise and my coffee….its heaven to me! I’m not a cold fan, but I’m certainly not a fan of sweltering heat and humidity! This old girl can’t breathe in that!  I do want to brag that all our ducks are in a row this morning! How precious! Haha!  Enjoy this beautiful weather! Pray for the multiple people who’ve lost loved ones in these past few days. Today was the best day since 5/31/25. That Saturday morning, I was at work, my cell rang. I looked at it, it was Ma. She asked if I was home. I could tell by her response that I was at work that something was wrong. I asked her, she said suddenly she didn’t feel right. Her right arm and leg hurt and were “heavy” and she couldn’t pour herself a cup of coffee. I asked her if she was alone. She was. I told her to sit and I’d call her right back. I called my brother and he was working. I told him I’d call him right back. Get where he could talk to me. I called her, she said nothing had changed. I told her to hang up and call 911, which she did. I updated my brothers. The rest of the story is: she had a stroke, it was small, and only time would tell what her level of recovery would be. She was discharged 6/2 with home health.  Fast forward to today. Everything is pretty much back to normal. Dr Igbokwe was very, very pleased with her progress. It’s partly cloudy and warm. Thankfully, there’s a nice breeze though. It’s 85° at 7:35pm. Birds are singing still and plenty of daylight left. Kristen is picking green beans. She gathered tomatoes a little earlier.  We had church today at Miller Hill. It was a good service.  As I was typing that, a small rainbow appeared!  Summer is nice, but I could do without all this humidity!  But, it is what it is! No need to complain really, I can’t change it! Pray.  Pray for our community, county, state and country.  Pray for our leaders at all levels.  Pray they make smart decisions for the good of the people!  Pray for the sick and for those who have recently lost loved ones.  Pray for your pastor and his family.  Pray for your deacons and their families.  Just pray.  I love all y’all!❤️

It’s amazing that 2025 is half over today. I’m kind of counting the days until I can retire. I think it’s sad that one can’t retire after a reasonable amount of years of service. It’s sad we are required to work until the government says we can retire (and get the full benefits we paid for ourselves, actually) which is 66 years and ten months for me. At 49 years old, I had thirty years already. By the time I’m 66 years 10 months, I will have 48 years of service. There’s no way I will receive what I’ve paid in. It’s just not fair. The law makers should have to retire the same way the general public does.  Oh well. If I dwell on it, I’ll just get my blood pressure higher. 277 days and counting down! 

It’s June 26, 2025 It’s been a while since I posted. I had a difficult time posting after blogger changed a format. It’s a very, very muggy 87° on the porch this afternoon. We’ve had a little thundershower go through, making it super muggy now. I’m going to try to get back to posting here at least once a week. I have good intentions.  I hope if you’re reading this, you have a blessed day!

It’s 36° on the porch this morning.  It does feel colder to me. The coming sunrise is simply beautiful today! Yellows,  oranges, reds contrasting with the blue sky is so beautiful! There’s a little purple in there at times too. It’s happening a bit earlier every day too! Spring will be here before we know it.   I’m trying to meditate and pray some on these days off. Revival is coming soon and I’m still way back in that cave.  Pray for our church, our community, county state and country. Pray our leaders make correct decisions for us based on good principles and not greed.  Pray for those who are hurting or sick.   I love all y’all! ❤️ Have a blessed day! 

I hope we don’t get the snow that is predicted Saturday. I am not a fan of snow. This last one left about 1/2 foot of snow on the ground for a couple days before it rained it all away. It’s 35° out there this morning. I believe it’s supposed to be mid 40s today. Of course, it’s my weekend to work. I was supposed to work today, but my car decided to tear up yet again.   This morning, the sunrise was beautiful. There were so many reds, oranges and yellows.  I didn’t get a picture at that time.  I have a distant relative who’s husband is very sick. Please say prayers for them both. He was recently diagnosed with renal cell cancer. During or just after surgery yesterday, he had a heart attack.  I’ve never met them in person, but they’re still family.  Please pray for healing.   I ask you to pray for our community,  county, state and country. Pray for our leaders at all levels to make prudent choices for the good of all, not just a few.   Please r...
